MCA Advanced Concrete Level II Technician Recertification

2023/2024 ACI/MCA LEVEL 2  Recertification

  • The class will begin at 8:30 am and finish at 4:00 pm
  • The Recertification is for STAFF and TECHNICIANS who regularly work with concrete mix designs and perform concrete testing. INDIVIDUALS SHOULD HAVE THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE ACI/MCA SPECIFICATIONS.
  • The first day of class will be at the MITA Building (2937 Atrium Drive Okemos, MI 48864). The first day will cover the Aggregates, ACI 301, and ACI 211 Fundamentals of Mix Proportioning (open-book exam) material. This session will be limited to 44 students.
  • Students will be assigned a group for the ACI Concrete Field Tech Grade 1 Recertification day. This will be either day 2 or day 3.
  • Day 2 or 3 (depending on group assignment) will be in-person at the training center (3130 Pine Tree Rd. Lansing, MI 48911) and is a single day recertification. There will be a short review of the material (approximately 4 hours in the morning). There will be time to practice the field tests after the book review. The ACI practical exam and written exam will then follow in the afternoon following lunch.
  • Come prepared to test concrete – safety boots or shoes, clothes that you don’t mind getting concrete on, and safety glasses if desired. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
  • Day 4 will be the MCA Level 2 open-book exam, at the MITA Building (2937 Atrium Drive Okemos, MI 48864). The exam will begin at 8:30 AM after a brief review. The entire class will be combined for the Level 2 Exam.
  • Each student will receive their classroom materials including the ACI CP-1 workbook, and MCA Level 2 binder two weeks before the certification class begins.
  • Lunch will be provided on review days but not on the Level 2 exam day. Pre-packaged snacks and beverages will be available.

Don’t Let Your Current Level II Certification Expire…

MCA Level II Technicians with an expiration date of 4/15/2023 will need to register for an upcoming recertification exam to extend their current certification. To verify your expiration date, it is printed on your MCA certificate /wallet card or can be obtained by contacting the MCA office at 800.678.9622. As a reminder, your Level II certification is valid for a three year period in Michigan.

1.  Level II Technicians DO NOT have to register separately for a Level I review class. Included with the Level II review session is recertifying your ACI Level I written and performance exams.
2.  It is recommended that all attendees wear clothing that is appropriate for testing concrete.
