2027 ACI Concrete Transportation Construction Inspector

Class will begin at 8:30 am and end at 1:00 pm. THIS IS AN EXAM ONLY SESSION! There is no review session. Examinees should come prepared to take the exams.

- Pre-packaged snacks and beverages are provided.
- If you need ADA accommodations, are sick, or have a disability or physical limitation, you must complete ACI's pre-certification qualification process before the class. Contact ACI Certification at aci.certification@concrete.org before attending. Special exceptions can't be granted without it.
About the Certification
A certified Concrete Construction Special Inspector is qualified to inspect and record the results of concrete construction based on codes and job specifications. The program covers inspection during preplacement, placement, and post-placement operations.
An Associate Inspector is knowledgeable about these inspection procedures but doesn't yet have the experience required for full Inspector certification. Associates can upgrade to full Inspector status once ACI approves their education and work experience.
Exam Format
- Written inspection exam: about 80 multiple-choice questions, three hours, open-book
- Plans reading exam: about 20 questions, one hour, tests your ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- A minimum score of 70% is required on each exam.

The 2027 Certification Exam will take place February 4, 2027
Certification Requirements
To earn full Inspector certification, you must:
- Pass the written exam.
- Pass the plans reading (blueprint reading) exam.
- Meet the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, Grade I requirement. You must either be currently certified, or have been certified at one time and pass the current Grade I written exam within one year of passing the Inspector exam. If the two exams are passed on different dates, the one-year period starts on the first exam passed.
- Meet at least one of these education and experience qualifications:
- A B.S. in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or Construction Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program (including courses in concrete materials, design, or construction), plus six months of satisfactory work experience
- A B.S. in an engineering program plus one year of satisfactory work experience
- Two years of college or technical school (at least 60 credit hours) plus two years of satisfactory work experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of satisfactory work experience
- Five years of satisfactory work experience
Associate Inspector: ACI grants Associate certification to applicants who meet the Field Testing Technician requirements and pass both written exams.
Certification Validity and Recertification
Certification is valid for five years from the date you complete all requirements. Recertification requires meeting the Field Testing Technician requirements and passing the inspection and plans reading exams again.
