MCA 301A – Vertical Wall Forming Systems: Practical Methods for Safe, Efficient Wall Construction

MCA 301A is an advanced contractor-focused seminar designed to give participants a deeper understanding of vertical wall forming systems, from proper setup and alignment to bracing, safety, and efficient cycling of forms. This hands-on, means-and-methods-driven training is ideal for contractors, foremen, field leaders, and project managers seeking to improve productivity, reduce risk, and enhance the quality of cast-in-place vertical concrete construction.

This session explores the full forming process—from selecting the appropriate system to assembling, plumbing, tying, pouring, and stripping forms. Participants will learn how equipment choice, tie patterns, pour rates, consolidation, and form pressures influence wall quality and jobsite efficiency. Real-world examples and field challenges are woven throughout the course to help teams understand common pitfalls and best practices that lead to safer, smoother operations.

Charles (Chuck) Hoke brings more than 20 years of experience in concrete forming, field training, and contractor support. As the Corporate Training Manager for Dayton Superior’s Symons Forming Systems, Chuck leads formwork and safety education programs across North America, specializing in vertical wall forming, shoring systems, and practical construction means and methods.

Chuck has developed and delivered training to thousands of professionals—bridging the gap between manufacturer expertise and jobsite-ready application. His background includes hands-on problem-solving, system-specific troubleshooting, and guiding contractors toward efficient, safe, and cost-effective formwork operations.

MCA CONTRACTOR TRAINING 301B – Floor Flatness & Floor Levelness: Achieving High-Performance Concrete Floors

MCA 301B is an advanced seminar focused on understanding, measuring, and producing high-quality concrete floors with the desired Floor Flatness (FF) and Floor Levelness (FL) values. Designed for contractors, finishers, project managers, and quality-control personnel, this course bridges the gap between specifications, practical construction methods, and real-world jobsite challenges.

Participants will learn how mix design, equipment selection, placement methods, finishing timing, environmental conditions, and curing practices influence final floor performance. The seminar also explores the production techniques and manufacturing processes behind super-flat floors—those required for high-rack warehouses, distribution centers, robotics facilities, and other precision-driven environments.

Bob Simonelli is widely recognized as one of the industry’s leading authorities on high-tolerance and super flat concrete floors. With more than 40 years of experience, Bob has installed, supervised, and consulted on complex slab projects across the United States and internationally, including work in Brazil, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, and the U.K.

A Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, Bob is an ACI Certified Concrete Flatwork Technician & Finisher Instructor and a certified practitioner under the F-Number System by the Face Companies.
